Last week, we co-hosted an event with Cuyana at their gorgeous San Francisco showroom to support HEART (Helping Ease Abuse Related Trauma), a group of women dedicated to supporting the Violence Intervention Program (VIP) in Los Angeles. HEART of VIP is the official charity partner of Cuyana’s Lean Closet Program, which gathers gently loved wardrobe items and gives them to people and children starting new lives after experiencing abuse. Serving 18,000 people per year, VIP has built a supportive community and we were thrilled to help out. It was our first charity event, launching #24EASTGIVES, which we will use to promote similar philanthropic partnerships and events that bring members of our community together for an important cause.
We were grateful to Adam Chapman and Gedeon Tsegaye for mixing up magic with three custom cocktails for the evening. All were named to reflect those involved in the event: To Love (a nod to Cuyana’s name which means “to love” in Quechua, Looking East (a play on 24 East and more importantly, to echo a new beginning for those who the event supported), and Leave Your Heart (to honor HEART of VIP and the city where we all leave our hearts – San Francisco). The spirits were from Spirit Works, a local Sonoma County distillery that bases their mostly female-led production on grain-to-glass philosophy of bringing in whole grains.
We gathered in Cuyana’s bright and elegant showroom overlooking Union Square. Their new Spring line is stunning – with blush tones, and streamlined yet practical design, guests enjoyed their picks of timeless accessories. I particularly love their new scarves, which are the perfect accents to wear as a belt or tie around a new bag.
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this event. Stop by Cuyana’s showroom next time you are in the area, and if making an online purchase, please opt to add a Lean Closet donation bag in your delivery so you can donate clothing to HEART of VIP. Thank you also for supporting #24EASTGIVES, we can’t wait for the next one!
