5 Local Things to Do This Weekend

10.19.17

From a local shopping event you can’t miss, to a Benefit Wine Tasting where 100% (!) of the proceeds go to Napa and Sonoma fire relief funds, we have your weekend line-up here. The great news is, most of these fun things both showcase local innovators and design, and offer ways to support our community. Take a look and see how you can fit it all in. Enjoy….

East For North

Three amazing local wine shops – Oakland Yard, Ordinaire, and Vintage Berkeley – are hosting a Benefit Tasting on Saturday with 100% (!) of the proceeds going to Napa and Sonoma community funds for fire relief. Flights are from 12-6pm, and wines by the glass are all day until 9pm. Bravo, guys. It is at the Oakland Yard, and to find them, go here.

The Shops Sale

Food, good brew, and a huge sale! Not much more goodness can be packed into this fun event at Temescal Brewing. Get there early to shop and enjoy hanging out all day. You can find more info on host, Temescal Brewing, here.

Chandra Cerrito Gallery

Connie Goldman, Genea XII, 2017, oil on panel, 35 x 32 x 2 inches

We profiled this Oakland contemporary gallery before (here), and love their concurrent solo exhibit of local artists, Connie Goldman and Mikey Kelly. Especially given the tragic fires in the North Bay, this exhibit offers some peace and cheer. For more on the exhibit (closed Sunday), go here.

Autumn Lights Festival

Artist Crafted Mushroom Lights

Starting tonight, you can stroll among the glowing lights for a good cause. Held at the Gardens of Lake Merrit, a 7-acre public park, this event showcases light installations of nearly 50 artists, with food and music too. Proceeds go towards keeping the park beautiful for us to enjoy. It lasts for three nights, and you can find more info here.

Have fun…
