If you follow Bay Area fashion, then you might know about Senreve. The San Francisco-based handbag company has quickly become popular among those wanting high function plus high style, and they have been profiled in Elle, The Zoe Report, and Forbes. But what you may not know is that this is an exciting time for their founders. They recently launched their first ever (!) collaboration – a killer foray into the world of prints and texture with 3 limited edition bags with Moda Operandi, and answered the call of hungry consumers wanting more, but in a smaller bite. They just hit go on making the new Mini Maestra available, a smaller version of their iconic, uber-convertible Mastra bag. Come step inside this awesome Bay Area brand, and the only thing you’ll wonder is…which color am I going to get?
We asked Senreve’s co-founders, Coral Chung and Wendy Wen, a few things about their handbag line:
From Wendy…introducing the Mini Maestra:
“The popularity of the Mini Maestra has blown us away! It has the same functionality as our best-selling Maestra, but it’s more compact which is perfect for someone who wants a smaller bag – and, it can still fit all of your essentials.”
24E: What void in the handbag market were you aiming to fill?
Coral Chung (CC): We want to create products that are luxurious and also perfect for everyday at a price point that is elevated and reflects the made in Italy quality/craftsmanship but not prohibitively expensive.
24E: What was the process like from conception to completion?
CC: It’s a thrilling process to see something that was imagined come to life in a tangible way. We took one year to develop the products and find or partners. We had many many iterations before we launched!
24E: What were some key decisions in sourcing and manufacturing?
CC: We wanted to work with the best artisans so we decided to meet with different families in Italy. We also picked materials that are luxurious, supple and durable.
4E: What did your family and friends think of your idea initially?
CC: They were really supportive and felt like this was something I was meant to pursue. They could tell that I was passionate about it.
24E: What was an unanticipated roadblock you faced?
CC: Finding the perfect manufacturing was a key milestone. We couldn’t make or deliver product until we found the perfect fit.
24E: Who are your style icons?
CC: Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy, Olivia Pope
24E: What makes for a happy co-founder relationship?
CC: We have a genuine friendship and a lot of respect for each other’s strengths.
24E: What’s next for Senreve?
CC: We will have some other products coming soon including a luxurious canvas bag with a leather trim.
24E: What are your hopes for the company?
CC: We hope to become a global fashion brand that empowers modern women with luxurious and versatile products in their daily lives.
