Walking into the Richmond District’s Fiorella, you’ll instantly adore the feel of the decor. With dark bronze and brass contemporary lighting and contrasting crisp white tile, it is a chic palette to surround yourself as you enjoy one of our favorite Bay Area brunch spots. But its the wallpaper that steals the show, and with so many faces of East Bayers that grace the walls, you’ll love seeing Chez Panisse icon, Alice Waters, next to Digital Underground’s, Humpty Hump. Come see who else you’ve always wanted to see on wallpaper but never knew you did. Until now.
The restaurant’s Bay Area-themed wallpaper was created by Flavor Paper – a collaboration with the comedy team at The Lonely Island and Oakland artist Matt Ritchie. In addition to Alice Waters and Humpty Hump, it features East Bay rappers Too $hort, E-40, and Mac Dre, plus football Hall of Famer Joe Montana, political activist Angela Davis and local KTVU anchor Dennis Richmond.
You’ll also spy some East Bay landmarks like the Grand Lake Theater, Fairyland, UC Berkeley’s Campanile, and the Port of Oakland cranes.
The food at Fiorella will keep you coming back. We love the Chitarra Pomodoro, simple but delectable cherry tomato sauce over al dente pasta, plus the Wood Roasted Chicken followed by the (local) Guittard Chocolate Bundino, made only more delicious with the addition of sea salt. If you can get there to enjoy weekend brunch, go early and order the Cornmeal Ricotta Waffle.
